Tamarack Triangle Village Receives Grant to Strengthen Healthy Aging and Community Connections
August 9, 2026Tamarack Triangle Village Receives Grant to Strengthen Healthy Aging and
Community ConnectionsSilver Spring, MD — Tamarack Triangle Village (TTV) is proud to announce that it has received funding to launch "Building a Strategic Vision for a Longevity-Ready Tamarack Triangle," an initiative that will strengthen healthy aging, expand community engagement, and support older adults in aging safely and independently in their own neighborhood.
The grant will support three major initiatives over the coming year: conducting a community asset mapping process, developing a three-year strategic plan, and expanding programs that foster social connection, volunteerism, health education, and neighbor-to-neighbor support. “The Department of Aging is excited to continue our partnership with Tamarack Triangle Village to expand programs that foster social connection and neighbor-to-neighbor support. “This is a direct investment into the communities we call home. We believe in more than just providing funding; our priority is to connect and strengthen the community from within, empowering residents of all ages to thrive,” stated Chelsea Wheeler, Program Director, Maryland Department of Aging.
"This investment provides an exciting opportunity for residents to help shape the future of our community," said Dr. Vernell P. DeWitty, Director, TTV Board of Directors. "Together, we will identify our community's strengths, address unmet needs, and build a sustainable roadmap that supports residents of all ages in Tamarack Triangle Community."
Residents, caregivers, community organizations, and businesses will participate through surveys, focus groups, interviews, and Kitchen Table Conversations to identify neighborhood assets, service gaps, and priorities for future programming.
The project will be implemented in partnership with the University of Maryland Center on Aging, whose expertise in healthy aging and community engagement will help guide the initiative.
Since its founding, Tamarack Triangle Village has brought neighbors together through health fairs, educational programs, international dinners, game nights, and community celebrations. This new funding builds on that momentum by creating additional opportunities for connection, inclusion, and healthy aging.
